Bouncer Chronicles: Conversation with Judo Jimmy Vennitti
With over 30 years of working the door of NYC clubs, Judo Jimmy Vennetti describes how he established himself as one of the premier doormen of NYC. Jimmy discusses how outside Starbucks two Italian crews from Staten Island and Brooklyn started fighting each other, each crew with about 20 guys a piece. Discussing how this was a nightly occurrence, and after the fights, each crew would disperse and go on their way.
Jimmy speaks of a night working a Lisa Lisa event when a Columbian gun runner pulled a gun out and fired two shots at him, striking him once in the shoulder and once in his hand. Explaining how at the time he was running towards the gun man, the whole world was in slow , he thought time was standing still. He was a little upset that his sweat shirt was filled with blood but happy he had all his fingers.
