Die Gleichgültigkeit Der Menschheit (The Indifference of Humanity)
Film made from original footage taken during WWII and Elie Wiesel's speech on the Perils of Indifference given at the White House on April 12, 1999, as part of the Millennium Lecture series. The film investigates the notion that the switch from decent human beings into someone capable of unbelievable inhuman activities is not only easy, but practiced by us frequently. It investigates whether the evil of the bystander who does nothing is simply part of human nature or if we can change that fact to create a better world for ourselves.
