Movie Reviews: "Cowboys and Aliens" AND "Crazy, Stupid, Love"

Uploaded on Thursday 28 July 2011

Two big films are opening this weekend of July 29th! We have the western sci-fi Cowboys and Aliens, and the romantic dramedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. Which one is my pick of the week? Find out!

Also, here are excerpts of my written reviews as seen on

First, "Cowboys and Aliens"

When you are presented with a movie named "Cowboys & Aliens" you know exactly what you are going to get. Instead of Indians being the bad guys, the extraterrestrials are the ones terrorizing the wild, wild West.

It's a clever concept but when you are mixing genres you are entering a very treacherous terrain. In "Cowboys & Aliens," the western genre elopes with sci-fi and the filmmakers tried their best to find the perfect balance. Predictably, the western elements overshadow the sci-fi aspects.

And here's Crazy, Stupid, Love:

Watching a smart romantic comedy like “Crazy, Stupid, Love” in a summer filled with fighting giant robots, magical boy wizards, and avenging superheroes is like drinking a tall, cool glass of lemonade during sweltering heat.

Written by Dan Fogelman, the guy who gave us the Disney/Pixar “Cars” movies, and directed by Glen Ficarra and John Requa (“Bad Santa,” “I Love You Phillip Morris”), “Crazy, Stupid, Love” is witty, charming, and oddly uplifting. You will be soul-searching long after the movie is finished. “Crazy, Stupid, Love” is this year’s “Little Miss Sunshine.”
