OA produces pain and stiffness in the hands and fingers, knees, shoulders, hips, and other joints as result of inflammation. Nutritionist Monica Reinagel recommends changes to the diet that can help reduce inflammation and improve symptoms. Current research supports dietary changes for symptoms of chronic diseases like OA. As Ms. Reinagel explains, this isn’t a matter of simply choosing “healthy” over “unhealthy” foods. Some wholesome foods, including certain fresh fruits, grains, and lean protein sources, may produce mild inflammation in the body.
